When we like someone, our brain automatically pauses the reason button, and all we can see and think about is spending as much time with them as possible.

You can’t wait to officially become a couple and nourish your commitment, but is it really wise to enter a relationship just yet?

You see, there are some things that should happen before you commit to a guy, and if you don’t pay attention to them, you might be at risk of entering a relationship that is doomed to fail from the start.

Sometimes your brain simply can’t see things clearly because you’re head over heels for that guy, and that is why you should stop for a moment and think about the following 7 things.

If the majority of them haven’t happened yet, you should definitely think twice about your current dating situation and your decision to commit to him!

1. Meet the friends

Has he met your friends and have you met his?

Before committing to a guy, you should always make sure that you’ve introduced him to your friends, and more importantly, that you’ve met his friends as well. Why?

Because if he’s unwilling to introduce you to his friends, this could be a huge red flag because there is probably some (s**tty) reason behind it, and you definitely don’t want to commit to such a person.

If you’re going to be his girlfriend, you want to make sure that he will treat you like one.

2. Be intimate

Some people don’t really like the idea of sleeping with their partner while dating because they prefer doing it while they are in a serious, committed relationship.

But, if you don’t do it in time, how will you know that you’re compatible with him and that there is true chemistry between the two of you?

It is always wise to ‘do the deed’ before you enter a relationship (of course, if you’re feeling comfortable with that) because once you’re too deep (in a committed relationship), it is really f**ked up to realize that there’s not a single trace of chemistry and passion.

It’s better to know it in time so that you can react accordingly.

3. Communicate openly

You know what they say: Open communication is the key to every successful relationship!

Have you ever had a meaningful conversation with your guy, and have you ever talked openly about different things in life that really matter?

If you’re not able to communicate openly, there will be no healthy base to your future relationship.

The more time you spend together, the more conflicts will arise, and it is of huge importance that you know how to solve them in a healthy way.

You want to make sure that you can always tell your partner what you really mean without them getting insulted that easily.

Compromising and being open with each other is the best recipe for a happy relationship!

4. Think about why you want to commit

Before committing to a guy, it is wise to first think about why you want to commit in the first place.

Do you want to do it because you can’t get over your ex or because others are forcing you to meet someone and abandon your label of being ‘single forever’?

Or do you want to commit because you are genuinely happy with him, and it feels like a natural thing to do?

When you know the answer to that question, you will know whether you should really enter into a relationship with him or whether you should wait some time to process your feelings and doubts. (And you will thank yourself later for deciding not to rush into anything.)

5. Make sure you trust him

If there is no trust in a relationship, there will be no respect and no harmony.

You should never enter into a relationship if you feel like you don’t trust him one hundred percent because if you don’t, it means there are some things that he should work on in order to win your trust in full.

Especially if you know that he wears the label of being a cheater in past relationships, you shouldn’t think twice about taking some time before you start trusting him with all of your body and soul.

You want to make sure that you will not have to overthink everything and fight over stupid things just because you suspect his words and actions.

6. Discuss cheating

You’re probably wondering why you should discuss cheating because there’s nothing to discuss.

Cheating is cheating, and the definition of it will remain the same.

But, what if I tell you that not every person perceives cheating the same way as you or me?

For some people, giving a kiss to someone is not considered as cheating while for others, simply texting strangers is an act of betrayal.

In order to skip these misunderstandings, it is wise to establish the ‘cheating boundaries’.

Once you do it, you will not have to fear that he will f**k up things that easily (unless he’s really determined to do so).

7. Make sure they make you a better person

Do you feel genuinely happy when you’re with him, and does he make you want to be a better person?

You see, relationships are all about being there for each other and inspiring each other to achieve things and become the best versions of yourselves.

If he’s not capable of making you a better person, you should think twice before committing to him.

You don’t want to waste your time on someone who will be a bad influence on you and who will not be willing to work on himself.

That is why you should first make sure that he’s making an effort to work on himself and inspires you to do the same!
